Christmas Light Displays in Massachusetts

Discover the Sights and Sounds of the Season

I may be biased, but some of the most impressive Christmas light displays I have ever seen reside right here in Massachusetts.

The residents of the Bay State seem to take things to another level when the holidays come around every year.

Home owners spend hours decorating their homes for the Christmas season, many starting the weekend after Thanksgiving to beat the first early snowfall. Some even add animatronics and Christmas music to their displays, which provides a true holiday experience for viewers like yourself.

Children particularly enjoy Christmas light displays. My two nephews point and shout "Look, Christmas!" every time they see a house all lit up. When the snow does begin to fall, it provides a picturesque Christmas scene as rows of houses covered in colorful lights shine through the snow.

It truly is a sight to behold, one which my description does not do justice. Now, you can find Christmas light displays in just about any neighborhood once December rolls around, but I definitely can suggest a few public displays that I personally have experienced and been impressed by.

If you're going to be in the area this December and are interested, send me a message!

So sit back and relax with a nice cup of hot chocolate as I go through some of the Christmas light displays in Massachusetts:

Christmas Festival of Lights at Edaville USA - Carver

Edaville USA brings visitors back to a time when life moved slower and the simple pleasures were something special. Located in South Carver, Edaville gets its name from the founder of the amusement park, Ellis D. Atwood.

The 5 and a half mile long railroad surrounding the park was once used to transport customers to view and sight-see his 1,800 acre plantation of cranberries.

The operation eventually evolved into a "Family Fun Park" with vintage carnival type rides and Christmas light displays with millions of bright lights.

Once a year in winter, Edaville USA features the Christmas Festival of Lights offering train rides through the magnificent Christmas light displays.

The light displays themselves are actually situated among the cranberry bogs; the heated train rides take approximately 20 minutes to go the full loop.

After the train ride, be sure to visit with Santa, he can be located daily through Christmas Eve and found in the Cran Central Junction (museum) building.

With 11 family-oriented amusement rides, a playground for the kids, and fireworks every Friday night, Edaville USA's Christmas Festival of Lights is a top pick for family holiday destinations.

Since most attractions are outside, the amusement park is open weather-permitting. Make sure to call ahead with the number supplied below.
